Literacy Curriculum Transparency

THE LITERACY CURRICULUM TRANSPARENCY ACT

SENATE BILL 21-151 SECTION 22-7-1209

With the passage of Senate Bill 21-151 (PDF), the General Assembly enacted the Literacy Curriculum Transparency Act. The act amends the Colorado READ Act to require each local education provider (LEP) to submit the following information to the department of education and requires the department to post the information on its website:

The evidence-based or scientifically based core and supplemental reading curriculum, or a detailed description of the reading curriculum, by grade, used at each of the schools operated by the local education provider.
The targeted, evidence-based or scientifically based core and supplemental reading instructional programs and intervention reading instruction, services, and other supports, or a detailed description of the programs, services, and other supports provided by each of the schools operated by the local education provider.
The number of students enrolled in kindergarten, first, second, and third grades who have READ plans, as well as the number of students who have achieved reading competency.
The local education provider's budget and narrative explanation for the use of the "Colorado READ Act" intervention money.

Red Flag

The term "Red Flag" signifies school days where the temperature during morning arrival (including windchill) is 25 degrees or lower. When the red flag is flown, students will be allowed to come inside no earlier than 8:25am. If you drive your student(s) to school on cold days, we encourage you to drop them off as close to the morning bell as possible. We use this website to determine the temperature red flag temperature

School Communication

We believe that students grow more when families and school staff are on the same team. Therefore, we want to make sure you stay informed.

Venetucci uses two systems to communicate with parents: Infinite Campus Portal (IC) and Remind. Please download both apps.

Infinite Campus - Look up your student's grades and attendance. Some teachers use this system to email guardians. Please email ICHelpDesk@wsd3.org to request your parent portal access code.
Remind - Receive text messages about important events and reminders. Please make sure your email is correct in IC; otherwise, you will not be able to connect with Venetucci in Remind.
